REMOVING/INSTALLING/REPLACING SUSPENSION TUBES (FIGURE 3)

NOTE: Invacare recommends replacing both suspension tubes at the same time to maintain optimum wheelchair performance.

REMOVING SUSPENSION TUBES

1.Remove the rear wheels from the wheelchair. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING REAR WHEELS in SECTION 5 of this manual.

2.Note the number of marks showing on the telescoping tube.

3.Open the receiver tube clamps. Refer to OPENING/CLOSING CLAMPS in SECTION 5 of the manual.

4.Pull the suspension tubes with rear axle away from the receiver tube.

5.Note the mounting position of the two (2) mounting screws and locknuts securing the EXISTING suspension tubes to the camber clamp.

6.Remove two (2) mounting screws and locknuts securing each EXISTING suspension tube to camber clamp (DETAIL "B").

INSTALLING SUSPENSION TUBES

1.Secure the NEW suspension tubes to the camber clamps in the position noted in STEP 5 of REMOVING SUSPENSION TUBES with the mounting screws and locknuts (DETAIL "B").

2.Insert the ends of the suspension tubes into the receiver tubes as far as possible.

3.Adjust wheelbase length to the position noted in STEP 2 of REMOVING SUSPENSION TUBES. Refer to ADJUSTING WHEELBASE LENGTH in SECTION 5 of this manual.
