Hibernation
Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavinglesorexitingfromany
applicationsthatarerunning.Whenyouent erhibernation,allopenapplications,folders,andlesare
savedtotheharddisk,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.Toenterhibernation,doasfollows:
1.ClickStart.
2.ClickthetrianglemarkontherightsideoftheShutdownicon,thenselectHibernate.
Whenyouarenotusingthewirelessfeatures,suchasBluetoothorwirelessLAN,turnthemoff.Thiswill
helpconservepower.T oturnoffthewirelessfeatures,pr essFn+F5.
Enablingthewakeupfunction
Ifyouputyourcomputerintohibernationmode,andthewakeupfunctionisdisabled(thisisthedefault
setting),thecomputerdoesnotconsumeanypower.Ifthewakeupfunctionisenabled,itconsumesasmall
amountofpower.T oenablethefunction,doasfollows:
1.ClickStartControlP anelSystemandSecurity.
2.ClickAdministrativeTools.
3.ClickTaskScheduler.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.F romtheleftpane,selectthetaskfolderforwhichyouwanttoenablethewakeupfunction.The
scheduledtasksaredisplayed.
5.Clickascheduledtask,andthenclicktheConditionstab.
6.UnderPower,selectthecheckboxforWakethecomputertorunthistask.
Enablingthebatteryalarm
Youcanprogramyourcomputersothatwhenthebatterypowerfallsbelowacertainlevel,threeevents
occur:thealarmgoesoff,amessageisdisplayed,andtheLCDisturnedoff.
Toenablethebatteryalarm,doasfollows:
1.S tartPowerManager.
2.ClicktheGlobalPowerSettingstab.
3.F orLowbatteryalarmorCriticallylowbatteryalarm,setthepercentageofthepowerlevelandset
theaction.
Note:Ifyourcomputerenterssleeporhibernationmodewhenthebatteryislow,butthealarmmessage
hasnotyetappeared,themessagewillappearwhenthecomputerresumes.Toresumenormaloperation,
pressOK.
