Solution:MakesurethatMicrophoneBoostisturnedonandsetasfollows:

4.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
5.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.
6.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.
7.ClickOK.

•Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisxedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
•Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioapplicationsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareoftheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettingsthemselves.
AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheapplicationhasslidersavailablet ocontrolthe
soundfromwithintheapplication.
•Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
•Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundontheV olumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.ThisisbecausetheBuilt-InSynthesizerSoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
•Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffcompletelyevenifyousettheMastervolumecontrolat
minimum.
Solution:YoucanstillhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Toturnoffthesoundcompletely,gototheMastervolumecontrolandselectMutespeakers.
•Problem:Whenyouconnectaheadphonetoyourcomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot
