The following figure shows the 1000BASE-T (1000 GT) Ethernet interface full-height card for VPN Router 1750.

Select cables for the card as follows, keeping in mind that this card is autonegotiating and uses the highest possible data rate:

•For 1000BASE-T operation, use category 5 four-pair Ethernet wiring. The cable must comply with the TIA 568 wiring specification. Nortel recommends a maximum length of 100 meters for the cable segment.

•For 100BASE-TX operation, use category 5 twisted-pair wiring: one pair each for transmit and receive operations. The cable must comply with the

EIA 568 wiring specification. Nortel recommends a maximum length of 100 meters for the cable segment.

•For 10BASE-T operation, use category 3, 4, or 5 twisted-pair wiring.
