Cautions for Use

more detailed information.
Keep this unit as far away as possi ble from electromag netic equipment (s uch as
microwave ovens , TVs, video games etc.).
Do not use this unit nea r radio transmitters or high-v oltage lines.
•If you record near radio trans mitters or high-voltage lines, the rec orded pictures and/or sound
may be adversel y affected.
Always use the supplied cords and cables.
If you use option al accessories, us e the cords and the cables supplied w ith them.
Do not extend t he cords or the cable s.
Do not spray the camera with insect icides or volatile chemicals.
•If the camera is sprayed with such chemi cals, the body of the camera may be damage d and the
surface finish may peel off.
Do not keep rubber or plastic products in contact with the camera for a long period of time.
Before cleaning the camera, remove the battery or the DC coupler (DMW-DCC12:
optional), or disconnec t the power plug from the outl et. Then wipe the camera wit h
a dry, soft cloth.
•When the camera is soiled b adly, it can be cleaned by wiping the d irt off with a wrung wet cloth,
and then with a dry cloth.
•Wipe off any dirt or dust on the zoom rin g and the focus ring with a dry, dustless clot h.
•Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergents, etc., to clean the
camera, since it may deterior ate the external case or the coating may peel off.
•When using a chemical cloth, be sure to follow the accompanying instructions.
∫About dirt on the ima ge sensor
This camera features an interchangeable lens system so dirt may get inside the camera
body when changing lenses. Depending on the recording conditions, dirt on the image
sensor may appear on the recorded picture.
To prevent debris or dust adhering to internal parts of the body, avoid changing the lens in
a dusty environment and always fit the body cap or a lens when storing the camera.
Remove any dirt on the body cap bef ore attaching it.

Dust reduction function
This unit has a du st reduction funct ion that will blow off the debris and du st that have
affixed to the front of the imaging device.
This function will fun ction automatically when the camera is turned on, but if you see
dust, perform the [Sensor Cleani ng] in the [Setup] m enu.
