Introduction

Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is in the Transport layer of the OSI model and sits on top of IP. It is one of the more widely used protocols among the TCP/IP suite. The TCP subsystem web pages of the 2604 DACS provides management and statistical information on TCP. Detailed information regarding the SNMP MIB variables may be downloaded from RFC1213: Management Information Base for Network Management of TCP/IP-based internets: MIB-II.

Click on TCP under the Configuration Menu to display the TCP main window (see figure 28) to monitor TCP statistics.

Retransmit-Timeout Algorithm (tcpRtoAlgorithm)

The algorithm that determines the timeout value used for retransmitting unacknowledged octets.

Retransmit-Timeout Minimum (tcpRtoMin)

The minimum value permitted by a TCP implementation for the retransmission timeout, measured in milli- seconds. More refined semantics for objects of this type depend upon the algorithm used to determine the retransmission timeout. In particular, when the timeout algorithm is rsre(3), an object of this type has the semantics of the LBOUND quantity described in RFC 793.

Retransmit-Timeout Maximum (tcpRtoMax)

The maximum value permitted by a TCP implementation for the retransmission timeout, measured in milli- seconds. More refined semantics for objects of this type depend upon the algorithm used to determine the retransmission timeout. In particular, when the timeout algorithm is rsre(3), an object of this type has the semantics of the UBOUND quantity described in RFC 793.
