Using the equalizer
Theequalizer lets you adjust the equalization
tomatch car interior acoustic characteristics
asdesired.

Recallingequalizer curves

Thereare seven stored equalizer cur ves which
youcan easily recall at any time. Here is a list
ofthe equalizer curves:

!CUSTOM1and CUSTOM2 are adjusted
equalizercurves.
!WhenFLAT is selected no supplement or
correctionis made to the sound. This is
usefulto check the effect of the equalizer
curvesby switching alternatively between
FLATand a set equalizer curve.
1 PressEQ and hold to switch to equali-
zerfunction.
PressEQ and hold until an equalizer curve
nameappears in the display.
#Toswitch to SFC function, press EQ and hold
again.
2 PressEQ to select the equalizer.
PressEQ repeatedly to switch between the fol-
lowingequalizers:
POWERFUL—NATURAL—VOCAL—FLAT—
CUSTOM1—CUSTOM2—SUPERBASS

Adjusting3-band parametric equalizer

For CUSTOM1and CUSTOM2 equalizer
curves,you can adjust thefront, rear and cen-
terequalizer curves separatelyby selecting a
centerfrequency, an equalizer level and a Q
factorfor each band.
!Aseparate CUSTOM1 curve can be cre-
atedfor each source.
!ACUSTOM2curve can becreated com-
monto all sources.
!Thecenter speaker largely determines the
soundimage and getting the balance right
isn’teasy. We recommend reproducing a 2-
ch.audio (a CD for example) and getting
thebalance right among the speakers ex-
ceptfor the center, and then reproducing a
5.1-ch.audio (Dolby Digital or DTS) and ad-
justingthe center speaker output to the
balanceyou have already got among the
otherspeakers.

menu.
2 TouchPARA EQ.
3 Touchaor bto select the desired item.
Eachtime you touch aor bselects the item
inthe following order:
SP-SEL(speakers)—BAND (bands)—
FREQUENCY(center frequency)—LEVEL
(equalizerlevel)—Q. FACTOR (Q factor)
4 Touchcor dto select the speaker to
beadjusted.
Touchcor duntil the desired speaker ap-
pearsin the display.
REAR(rear speakers)—CENTER (center speak-
er)—FRONT(front speakers)
#Youcannot select speakers whose size is set
atOFF.
5 Touchband then touch cor dto se-
lectthe equalizer band to be adjusted.

bandsin the following order:
