!Custom1 and Custom 2 are adjusted
equalizercurves that youcreate. Adjust-
mentscan be made with a 7-band graphic
equalizer.
!WhenFlat is selected no supplement or
correctionis made to the sound. This is
usefulto check the effect of the equalizer
curvesby switching alternatively between
Flatand a set equalizer curve.
%PressEQ to select the equalizer.
PressEQ repeatedly to switch between the fol-
lowingequalizers:

Adjustingequalizer curves
Thefactory supplied equalizer curves,with the
exceptionof Flat, can be adjusted to a fine de-
gree(nuance control).
1 UseMULTI-CONTROL to select the gra-
phicequalizer adjustment.
Powerfulappears in the display.
Ifthe equalizer cur ve has been previously se-
lected,the curve of thatpreviously selected
willbe displayed instead of Powerful.
2 PushMULTI-CONTROL left or right to
selectan equalizer curve.
Eachtime MULTI-CONTROL is pushed left or
right,equalizer curves areselected in the fol-
lowingorder:

3 PushMULTI-CONTROL up or down to
adjustthe equalizer curve.
Eachtime MULTI-CONTROL is pushed up or
down,the equalizer cur ve increases or de-
creasesrespectively.
+6to 4(or 6) is displayed as the equalizer
curveis increased ordecreased.
#Theactual range of the adjustments are differ-
entdepending on which equalizer curve isse-
lected.
#Theequalizer curve with all frequencies set to
0cannotbe adjusted.
Adjusting7-band graphic equalizer
For Custom1 and Custom 2 equalizer cur ves,
youcan adjust the level of each band.
!Aseparate Custom 1 curve canbe created
foreach source. (The built-in CD player and
themulti-CD player are set to the same
equalizeradjustment setting automati-
cally.)If you make adjustments when a
curveother than Custom 2 is selected,the
equalizercurve settings will bememorized
inCustom 1.
!ACustom2 curve can be created common
toall sources. If you make adjustments
whenthe Custom 2 curve is selected, the
Custom2 curve will be updated.

2 UseMULTI-CONTROL to select 7-band
graphicequalizer adjustment.
Frequencyand the level (e.g., 50Hz +4) ap-
pearsin the display.
3 PushMULTI-CONTROL left or right to
selectthe equalizer band to adjust.
Eachtime MULTI-CONTROL is pushed left or
right,equalizer bands are selected in the fol-
lowingorder:

4 PushMULTI-CONTROL up or down to
adjustthe level of the equalizer band.
Eachtime MULTI-CONTROL is pushed up or
down,the level of the equalization band in-
creasesor decreases.
