MAINTENANCE

General Maintenance

Clutch Center Distance

See your Owner’s Manual Specification Supplement for recommended center distance for your machine. If adjustment is necessary, see your dealer. Due to tolerances in belt length, it may be necessary for your dealer to make minor adjustments in the driven clutch to achieve

correct belt tension.

Torque Stop

If your snowmobile is equipped with an engine torque stop (1), periodically check torque stop clearance. With clutches in proper alignment, the torque stop clearance should be a minimum of .010to a maximum of .030from the engine case (2). Adjust if necessary, and lock the jam nut.

Reverse Kit Maintenance

If your snowmobile is equipped with reverse, or if you have a reverse kit installed, it’s especially important to maintain track tension as specified on page 140.

WARNING

If specified track tension is not maintained, serious damage to the snowmobile may occur, which can result in loss of vehicle control. Loss of control can result in serious personal injury or death.

Allow the engine to reach idle speed before attempting to shift into or out of reverse.

CAUTION

If machine has not come to a complete stop before shifting, damage will occur to chaincase or transmission.
