Water/Sediment Trap Service
Most Polaris snowmobiles contain patentedcarburetor bowl
water/sediment traps located at the bottom of each carburetor. The
trap, consisting of a hose with a plug, should be drained at least every
2000 miles (3200 km) andinspected for contamination.
Plug Cleaning Procedure
1 Turn the fueltank supply valve off.
2 Position acontainer or shop towels to
catch the contaminated gasoline.
3 Slide the clamp (1) away from the
drain plug (2) and remove thedrain
plug from the sedimenttube.
4 Wipe residue from the plug and
reinstall it. Reposition and tighten
the clamps. Continue until all the
traps have been emptied.
When draining the traps, fuel spillage will occur. Always wor k in
a well ventilated area away from anything that may cause the fuel
to ignite, such as open flames, sparks, heaters, tr ouble lights,
cigarettes, etc. Review t he gasoline warnings found on page 80.
