Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble with the RFID UHF encoder, consu lt
Table 2 for a list of symptoms and possible solutions.

No communicationbetween the
printer and the reader
1. Makesure the serial interface adap teran d
the serial cable are plugged into the printer.
See Installationon page 23.
2. Makesure Reader = Enabl e in the RFID
CONTROL menu.
3. Usethe RFID Test option in the RFID
CONTROL menu (Admin User enabled) to
read and display the current RFID tag
content. RFIDtags usually contain a valid
entry due to the pre-test process. See RFID
Teston page 54.
Tagfailed 1. Thelabel could be misaligned. Per form the
Auto Calibrate procedure (page 37) to
ensure the label is at top-of-form.
2. Makesure the media are smart labels with
RFID tags located in the correct position.
3. TheRFID tag could be defective. Try
another tag.
4. Makesure the application does not send too
few or too many digits to the RFID tag.
Inconsistent results Make sure the media is loaded correctly and
passes smoothly over the antenna. See
Loading Media And Ribbonon page 29.
The RFID UHF encoder works,
but it does not meet expectations
Make sure that both Error Handling and Label
Retry are set to desired values in the RFID
CONTROL menu.
