Controlling VCRs which have the COMMAND MODE selector
To control a VCR with the remote commander, set the COMMAND MODE selectors on the remote commander and the VCR to the same position. The COMMAND MODE*1 selectors on both the unit and remote commanders are factory set to VTR3. Be sure to set the COMMAND MODE selector on each VCR to a different position to operate each VCR independently.
If the COMMAND MODE selector on a VCR is set to OFF, you cannot control that VCR with the remote commander.
If the COMMAND MODE selector on this unit is set to OFF, although you cannot control the unit‘s VCR with the remote commander, MASTER VOL

Controlling a VCR which doesn’t have a COMMAND MODE selector
If a VCR has no COMMAND MODE selector, set COMMAND MODE on the remote commander in the following way.
