1.9 Choosing Between a Rack and a Cabinet
Youcan install the Sun Fire V120 or Netra 120 server in either a rack or a cabinet.
Factors that might influence your decision include:
■Security
If other people have access to the room in which your server is located, you can
increase security by locking the server in a cabinet.
■Thermal issues
Cabinets often requireadditional fans, because the servers you install in them are
generating heat in an enclosed space. Two-postracks, however, might require no
special cooling systems.
■Flooring
Two-posttelco relay racks are designed so that cables can be run overhead.
Cabinets often require cables to be run under the floor.
