Port Filtering Screen
Available on the Security sub-menu, thi s screen allows you to configure the Port Filt ering
feature. This feature can block out going Interne t traffic. If enable d, only known applications,
identifie d by port number, can connect to the Internet .
This screen contains the foll owing settings
- Enable Port Filter - Use this checkbox to enable or di sable the Port Fil tering feat ure as
desired.
Enabled: Only traffic from the specifie d “Allowed Appli cations” is allowed. Ot her
outgoing (Inter net) traffic is blocke d.
Disabled : This feature is disabled, and outgoing traffic is not checke d.
- Allowed Applications - Enable each application whi ch you wish to be able to access the
Internet while the Port Filte r feature is enabl ed. All other applications will be blocked.
- Custom Applications - Use this button if you wish to define your own applications. A sub-
window will open and provide the opportunity to defi ne additional applicat ions. This
screen is describe d in the followi ng section.

Custom Applications Screen

This screen is reached by the “Custom Appl ications” button on the Port Filter screen. It allows
you to define and enable custom Port Filteri ng applications. You need to know detai ls of the
traffic used and generate d by the applications you wish to define.
This screen contains the foll owing settings:
Checkbox - Use this to enable an applicat ion after you have defined i t. If enabled, then
traffic from this application i s allowed to access the Inte rnet. If not che cked, traffic for this
application is blocked.
NOTE: These checkboxes have no effect unless the Port Fil ter is enable d on the Port Filter
screen.
Application Name - Enter a suitable name for the application.
Ports - Click this link to display the Port Defi nition panel, allow ing you to define the por ts
used by this application. Click "Hid e" when finished defini ng the curre nt application; clic k
"Apply" when fini shed defining all applicati ons.
Port Definition Panel - This panel is displayed when the "Ports" link is cli cked, and allows
you to define the port s used by the current applicat ion. The current appli cation is
indicated by background shading and panel heading. You can define up to 5 port range s
for each application, as follows:
