Supported Paper and Media

Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size. For Trays 2–4, the paper guides click into place when they are adjusted correctly.

If excessive jams occur, use paper or other media from a new package.

Note: Printer reliability specifications may be affected by increased use of transparency, card stock, and labels. In addition, printer reliability may vary due to extended use of some media types.

Paper That Can Damage Your Printer

Your printer is designed to use a variety of media types for print jobs. However, some media can cause poor output quality, increased paper jams, or damage to your printer.

Unacceptable media includes:

Rough or porous media

Plastic media other than supported transparencies

Paper that has been folded or wrinkled

Paper with staples

Envelopes with windows or metal clasps

Padded envelopes

Non-laser glossy or coated paper

Perforated media

Caution: Use only Xerox transparency film. Other types of transparency film can melt and and damage the printer.
