■Using sound field programs without surround speakers
(Virtual CINEMA DSP)
Virtual CINEMA DSP allows you to enjoy the CINEMA DSP programs without surround speakers by creating virtual speakers.
If you set “SUR. L/R SP” to “NONE” (see page 49), Virtual CINEMA DSP activates automatically whenever you select a CINEMA DSP or HiFi DSP program (see page 37).
Note
Virtual CINEMA DSP will not activate even when “SUR. L/R SP” is set to “NONE” (see page 49) in the following cases:
–When “5ch Stereo” (see page 37) is selected.
–When headphones are connected to the PHONES jack.

Note
SILENT CINEMA does not activate when the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks is selected as the input source (see page 33).
■Enjoying unprocessed input sources
(Straight decoding mode)
When this unit is in the “STRAIGHT” mode, multi- channel sources are decoded straight into the appropriate channels without any additional effect processing. 2- channel stereo sources are output from only the front left and right speakers.
Press BSTRAIGHT (or press D AMP and then press T STRAIGHT) to select “STRAIGHT”.
To deactivate the “STRAIGHT” mode, press
BSTRAIGHT (or T STRAIGHT) again so that “STRAIGHT” disappears from the front panel display.
