Prestige 1600 Universal Access Concentrator
To configure the TCP/IP parameters of a remote node, first configure the two fields in Menu 11 - Remote Node Profile, as shown.
TableField | Description | Option |
Rem IP Address | Enter the IP address of the remote gateway in |
| Menu 11.1 Remote Node Profile. |
Edit IP | Press [SPACE BAR] to select Yes and press | Yes/No |
| [ENTER] to go to Menu 11.3 - Remote Node |
| Network Layer Options. |
The following table shows the TCP/IP related fields in Menu 11.3 - Remote Node Network Layer Options.
TableField | Description | Option |
Rem IP | This shows the IP address you entered for this remote node in |
Address | the previous menu, Remote Node Profile. |
Rem IP | Enter the subnet mask for the remote network. |

My WAN | Some implementations, especially the UNIX derivatives, require |
Addr | the WAN link to have a separate IP network number from the |
| LAN and each end must have a unique address within the WAN |
| network number. If this is the case, enter the IP address |
| assigned to the WAN port of your Prestige 1600. |
| Note that this is the address assigned to your local Prestige |
| 1600, not the remote router. |

Metric | The metric represents the “cost” of transmission for routing | 1 to 15 |
| purposes. IP routing uses hop count as the measurement of |
| cost, with a minimum of 1 for directly connected networks. Enter |
| a number that approximates the cost for this link. The number |
| need not be precise, but it must be between 1 and 15. In |
| practice, 2 or 3 is usually a good number. |
Private | This parameter determines if the Prestige 1600 will include the | Yes/No |
| route to this remote node in its RIP broadcasts. If set to Yes, this |
| route is kept private and not included in RIP broadcast. If No, |
| the route to this remote node will be propagated to other hosts |
| through RIP broadcasts. |
