3.3.3 Configuring the PPTP Client
To configure a PPTP client, you must configure the M y Login and Password fields for a PPP connection and
the PPTP parameters for a PPTP connection.
After configuring the User Name and Password for PPP connection, press [SPACE BAR] in the
Encapsulation field in Menu 4 -Internet Access Setup to choose PPTP as your encapsulation option. This
brings up the following screen.

The following table contains instructions about the new fields when you choose PPTP in the Encapsulation
field in Menu 4.

PPTP. The encapsulation method influences your choices for

Idle Timeout This value specifies the time in seconds that elapses before
the Prestige automatically disconnects from the PPTP server. 100
(default)
3.3.4 PPPoE Encapsulation
The Prestige supports PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet). PPPoE is an IETF Draft standard (RFC
2516) specifying how a personal computer (PC) interacts with a broadband modem (i.e. xDSL, cable,
wireless, etc.) connection.
