TROUBLESHOOTING

6 Close the front cover.

The TD cartridge replacement required indicator ( ) will go out.

Before closing the front cover, make sure

Note

that the TD cartridge is correctly installed.

When closing the front cover, gently hold both ends.

REPLACING THE DRUM CARTRIDGE

The useful life of the drum cartridge is approximately 30,000 copies. When the internal counter reaches approximately 29,000 copies, the drum cartridge replacement required indicator ( ) will light up indicating that replacement of the drum cartridge will be needed soon. When the indicator begins to blink, replace the drum cartridge by following the procedure given below.

Caution

Do not remove the protective cover on the drum portion (black paper) of a new drum cartridge before use. The cover protects the drum against external light.

Note For the procedure to find out how many more copies can be made before the 30,000 mark is reached, see "DRUM CARTRIDGE LIFE" (p.65).

1 Open the bypass tray and the side cover.

3 Pull the TD cartridge out while pulling up on the lock release lever.

2 Push on both ends of the front cover and open it.

Pull out the TD cartridge until the green strap handle can be grasped. While supporting the TD cartridge at the green label with your left hand, grasp the green strap handle with your right hand and pull the TD cartridge all the way out.

4 Grasp the drum cartridge handle and gently pull the cartridge out.

Dispose of the old drum cartridge in accordance with local regulations.
