8.3Using the answering machine with the cordless handset

LTo activate TAM/FAX mode with the cordless handset, see page 49.

8.3.1Recording your greeting message

1Press {j/OK}.

2Select Answer System, then press {>}.

3Select Record, then press {>}.

4Select Record Greeting, then press

{>}.

L Hold the cordless handset about 20 cm away and speak clearly into the microphone.

5Press {j/OK} to stop recording.

LThe greeting message is played back.

6Press {ih}.

Note:

LTo erase the greeting message, press {*}, then {6} during playback.

To check the greeting message

1.Press {j/OK}.

2.Select Answer System, then press {>}.

3.Select Play Greeting, then press {>}.

4.Press {ih}.

To erase your greeting message

1.Press {j/OK}.

2.Select Answer System, then press {>}.

3.Select Erase Message, then press {>}.

4.Select Erase Greeting, then press {>}.

5.Select Yes, then press {>}.

6.Press {ih}.

8.3.2Listening to recorded messages

When you have new messages:

the {AUTO ANSWER} indicator on the base unit flashes

the total number of new messages is displayed

the base unit beeps slowly if the message alert feature (page 58) has been turned on.

1Press {j/OK}.

2Select Answer System, then press {>}.

3Select Play New Msg.or Play All Msg., then press {>}.

Note:

LTo adjust the speaker volume during playback, press {e} or {v} repeatedly.

LAfter playing back all of the new messages, the {AUTO ANSWER} indicator will stop

flashing but will remain lit up when the answering system is turned on.

LWhile listening to messages, you can switch between the receiver and speaker by pressing {C} or {s}.

To repeat a message

Press {<} while listening to the message.

LIf you press {<} within 5 seconds of the beginning of the message, the previous message will be played.

To skip a message

Press {>} to play the next message.

To stop playback

Press {9}.

To erase a specific message

Press {*}, then {4} while listening to the message you want to erase.

To erase all messages

1.Press {j/OK}.

2.Select Answer System, then press {>}.

3.Select Erase Message, then press {>}.

4.Select Erase All, then press {>}.

5.Select Yes, then press {>}.

6.Press {ih}.
