Installing Network Drivers

NetWare

Note: Consult \readme\nw_stnd.txt and readme\nw_dura.txt files for the latest driver information and installation instructions. Some procedures or information may have changed or may not have been available at the time this user’s guide was printed.

The Novell NetWare driver, \nwserver\empci.lan is used with both NetWare 3.1x and NetWare 4.x servers, and also with both NetWare 3 SFT III and NetWare 4 SFT III.

Note: An Adaptec LAN adapter cannot be used as an MSL adapter in an SFT-III environment.

Note: These instructions apply to standard drivers only. If your adapter shipped with Duralink software, see Installing the Duralink Driver for NetWare 4.x on page 4-5 or \readme\nw_dura.txt.

Installing and Configuring the Standard Driver for NetWare 4.x

Note: Netware 4.1 requires two patches to enable the ODI

3.3support. Download the server patch 410pt7.exe and the NLM patch landr9.exe from http://support.novell.com. ODI 3.3 patches are not required for Netware 4.11.

Using the INETCFG utility

INETCFG.NLM is the recommended utility to properly install and con- figure the Netware driver.

Before installing the Netware driver, delete all previously installed adapters.Remove all load and bind commands relating to the
