4.If you turn captions “Off,” all additional options in the pop-up window will become disabled (and you can press ENTER to exit the pop-up window). Otherwise, use the Up/Down arrows to highlight the Mode field.

5.In the Mode field, select the appropriate Caption Mode:

• For analog channels: Select the appropriate option from CC (1-4) or Text (1-4). Then, press ENTER to close the pop-up window, and continue with step 6.

Closed Captions typically scroll across the bottom or top of the display screen and usually comprise the audio portion of a program.

To select Closed Captions using the Installer Remote, press the CC button repeatedly until the desired option displays on-screen.

Analog Captions will display on-screen whether the signal is from an RF channel or external equipment input.

For digital channels: Select the appropriate option from CC (1-4), Text (1-4), or Service (1-6). Then, either press ENTER to close the pop-up window, or configure digital caption options as described below.

6.Press MENU to return to TV viewing, or press RETURN to return to the previous menu level.

Digital Caption Options

1.Turn captions On and select a Caption Mode as described above. Then, use the Up/Down arrows to highlight the Digital Option field. Press ENTER.

2.In the Digital Option pop-up window, use the Left/Right arrows to select the appropriate digital option:

Set By Program: If selected, all custom options will be grayed out. Press ENTER to close the pop-up window.

Custom: This option enables you to customize caption attributes, including, font size and style, text color and opacity, background color and opacity, and edge type and color. Use the arrow keys to navigate between fields and select settings. Each option is previewed at the bottom of the display screen. When you have set all attributes as desired, press ENTER to close the pop-up window.

3.Press MENU to return to TV viewing, or press RETURN to return to the previous menu level.

Note: If custom digital caption settings are to be cloned, all attributes should be set to any option other than Default. If Default is left as the setting for any one option, then all the attributes will be reset to default after cloning.
