DISPLAYS, MESSAGES, AND ALERTS

To conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance of the i860 unit, you must become familiar with the display screens, errors, messages, and alert tones associated with the unit.

3.1Power-Up Sequence

Extend the antenna for optimum power and press pmomentarily to turn on the unit and begin the power-up sequence. The power-up sequence initiates a series of displays on the unit. As shown below, each display reflects a stage of the sequence. If the last display shows the idle screen, the power up was successful; if the last display shows No Service, the unit is out of range or there is a hardware or software problem.

If the vibrate function is enabled for incoming phone calls, voice mail, or message mail, the power- up sequence includes a 500 ms. vibrate cycle. Depending upon your service provider, the power-up sequence screens may differ from those shown.
