Test System

The system should now be tested to ensure that it is functioning correctly. Power cycle the system. Verify that all Base Stations download and go to a running status. This takes about 30 seconds after connecting the Base Station cable to the Base Station’s RJ-45 socket. During this period the Base Station’s LED will flash in several sequences. At the end of this period the LED will be flashing yellow.

Test each Base Station:

While standing near the Base Station, use a registered handset and go off-hook. Verify a clear dial tone. The Base Station’s LED should flash green.

Verify proper registration and operation of each handset by performing the following test:

1.Press the START key on each handset. The extension number should clear and you should hear dial tone. On some digital systems, depending on how the telephone system is programmed, you may have to select a line to get dial tone.

2.Place a call to each handset to verify ring, answer, clear transmit, and clear receive audio.

3.Verify all programmed features on each handset.

4.Press the END key. The line indicator should turn off.

Voice-test each Base Station

Walk around the installation site with a handset while making voice calls to a deskset. Verify that both ends of the conversation are of good quality on each Base Station.
