System Initialization

Before the system can be tested or operated, the administration and maintenance PC must be installed and connected to the MCU, the system must be configured, and the handsets and Base Stations must be registered. Refer to the SpectraLink 6300 MCU: Operator’s Console document to perform the following steps, then return to the next section to continue the installation procedures.

1.The PC must be connected to the system controller’s RS-232 serial port. An optional modem should also be connected to a dedicated phone line to provide remote access.

2.Load the administration software (Chk3000) and run the software.

3.Configure all system parameters.

4.Register all handsets.

5.Register all Base Stations.

6.Program macros on systems with analog interface.

7.Program handset features on the PBX.

If the system is connected to the telephone system via analog lines, refer to the SpectraLink 6300 MCU: Operator’s Console documentation.

If the SpectraLink 6300 MCU is connected to a digital key telephone system or PBX, refer to the section of the LinkPlus Interface Guide that deals specifically with the brand of telephone system to which the SpectraLink 6000 System will interface.
