Answering System

Remote access code

A 3-digit remote access code must be entered when operating the answering system remotely. This code prevents unauthorised parties from listening to your messages remotely.

Important:

RIn order to operate the answering system remotely, you must first set a remote access code.

Deactivating remote operation

Press * in step 2 on “Remote access code” page 50.

RThe entered remote access code is deleted.

Using the answering system remotely

1Dial your phone number from a touch-tone phone.

2After the greeting message starts, enter your remote access code.

3Enter remote commands (page 50).

4 When finished, hang up.

Turning on the answering system remotely

If the answering system is off, you can turn it on remotely.

1Dial your phone number from a touch-tone phone.

2Let the phone ring 9 times. R A long beep is heard.

3Enter your remote access code within 10 seconds after the long beep.

R The greeting message is played back. R You can either hang up, or enter your remote access code again and begin

remote operation (page 49).

Answering system settings

Number of rings before the unit answers a call

You can change the number of times the phone rings Number of Ringsbefore the unit answers a call. You can select 2 to 6 rings, or Auto.

The default setting is 4 Rings.

Auto: The unit’s answering system answers at the end of the 2nd ring when new
