Section 3 Cooling System
3.1 Air Requirements
Air flow around the generator set is necessary for adequate cooling. See the current generator set specification sheet for air requirements. The air intake silencer/cleaner provides combustion air to the engine. See Figure

3.2 Block Heaters
Block heaters are available as installed accessories on these generator sets. Use block heaters in applications where the generator set is subject to temperatures below 16_C (60_F). Connect the block heater to a power source that is energized when the generator set is not running.
Note: Block heater damage. The block heater will fail if the energized heater element is not immersed in coolant. Fill the cooling system before turning on the block heater. Run the engine until it is warm and refill the radiator to purge the air from the system before energizing the block heater.
3.3 High Water Temperature Switch
Each generator set includes a high water temperature shutdown switch that automatically shuts down the set if operating temperatures climb too high. Follow the guidelines described in Section 3.1 to prevent shutdowns.
