52 — SCS EM Always Generates CR/LF

IBM specifications state that the EM (End of Message) character will have the effect of sending a CR/LF to the printer when the printhead is in any column other than column one. Setting this option to “No” causes the ULTRA to conform to this IBM specification, while setting it to “Yes” causes a CR/LF to be sent to the printer whenever an EM is received, regardless of the printhead position. The default value is “No.” Refer to Section 14 — SCS Data Streams for more information.

53 — IBM 35 Hex Transparency

If this option is set to “Yes,” 35 Hex transparency is enabled. If set to “No,” 35h will be ignored. The default value is “No.” Refer to Section 11 — Transparency Modes for more information.

Note: If this option is set to “Yes,” Option #1 — Column width should be set to 0 (infinite line length), Option #2 — Lines Per Page should be set to 0 (infinite page length), and Option #15 — Bold Print Emulation should be set to C (none). Otherwise, unpredictable formatting errors could occur. Refer to Section 12 — DisplayWrite 370 Support for more information.

54 — Power On Reset (POR) After 60 Seconds

The ULTRA is capable of announcing to the host that it is ready, even under catastrophic circumstances. This option determines whether or not the ULTRA will send a POR sequence to the coax host after 60 seconds have passed without data being received from the coax host.

This is used in situations where the controller has been turned off and back on, and when it does not know about the devices that are attached to it. The POR informs the controller that the ULTRA is ready. The default is “No.”

If set to “Yes,” the following statements are true:

If power to either the coax host or controller fails, the controller (when it resumes operation) may consider the ULTRA inactive. After a 60 seconds, the ULTRA will reestablish its relationship with the coax host.

Some systems are put to “sleep” when not in use. When the system resumes operation, the ULTRA will announce to the coax host that it is ready also.
