Cannot Establish a Local (Out-of-Band) Management Session

If you are unable to establish a local (out-of-band) management session with the switch through the terminal port on the front panel, do the following:

ˆCheck that the RJ-45 serial management cable is securely connected to the serial terminal port on the switch and to the RS-232 port on the terminal or personal computer.

ˆCheck that the operating parameters on the terminal or the terminal emulation program have been set correctly. The default settings for the RJ-45 serial terminal port can be found in “Starting a Local Management Session” on page 87.
