To determine a particular failure state, enter the following command on the remote workstation while continuously pinging:

The failure states are determined by examining the output from the atmstat fa0 1 command string. The failures are classified by whether or not cells are sent (or received) and whether or not errors are received. The output shown below is typical of the first response from the atmstat fa0 1 command string. Succeeding lines of data continue in the same column format. Refer to the fol- lowing subsections for a description of each type of failure.
