Requirements

This chapter describes the installation procedures for the PERC 3/SC board. You must have the following:

•A PERC 3/SC controller

•A host computer with an available 5 V, 32- or 64-bit PCI expansion slot

•The PERC 3 installation diskettes

•The necessary SCSI cables (This depends on the number and type of SCSI devices to be attached.)

•Fast, Ultra, Ultra II, and 160M SCSI hard drives

Dell™ strongly recommends that you have an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for the entire system.

Optional Equipment

You may also want to install SCSI cables that connect the PERC 3/SC to external SCSI devices.
