Installation Steps

This section provides an overview of installing the RAID controller. See the following sections for more information about each step.

1Unpack the PERC 3/QC controller and inspect for damage.

Make sure all items are in the package. If damaged, call your Dell original equipment manufacturer (OEM) support representative.

2Turn the computer off and remove the cover.

3Check the jumper settings on the PERC 3/QC controller.

4Set SCSI termination.

5Install the PERC 3/QC card.

6Connect the SCSI cables to SCSI devices.

7Set the target IDs for the SCSI devices.

8Replace the computer cover and turn the power on.

Be sure the SCSI devices are powered up before or at the same time as the host computer.

9Run the PERC 3/QC Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) Configuration Utility or WebBIOS Configuration Utility.

10Install software drivers for the desired operating systems.

Step 1—Unpack the PERC 3/QC Controller

Unpack and install the hardware in a static-free environment. The PERC 3/QC is packed inside an anti-static bag between two sponge sheets. Remove the controller card and inspect it for damage. If the card appears damaged, or if any item listed below is missing, contact your Dell support representative. The PERC 3/QC card comes with:
