8Disconnect the power cable(s) connected to the hard drives in the drive bay, or to the optional SAS backplane.

9Remove the screws securing the drive bay and remove the bay from the system.

10Disconnect all remaining cables attached to the connectors on the system board:

Optical-drive interface cable (PRIMARY_IDE connector)

Diskette-drive cable (FDD connector)

Control panel cable (FRONT_PANEL connector)

Front fan cable (FRONT_FAN connector)

Back fan cable (BACK_FAN connector)

Any other cables attached to the system board, after recording their locations.

11Remove the back fan. See "Removing the Back System Fan" on page 67 in "Installing System Components."

12Remove all PCI expansion cards from the expansion slots. See "Removing an Expansion Card" on page 73.

13Pull up on the system board plunger and slide the system board toward the front of the chassis about 2.5 cm (1 inch). See Figure 3-26.

14Carefully lift the system board up and out of the chassis. See Figure 3-26.
