Installing a RAC Card

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. Before performing any procedure, see your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 43.

3Install the RAC card in PCI expansion slot SLOT_5.

See "Installing an Expansion Card" on page 72 for information on installing the card.

4Connect the cable from the RAC card to connector RAC_CONN on the system board. See "System Board Connectors" on page 118.

5Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 47.

6Stand the system upright.

7Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.

8Enter the System Setup program and verify that the setting for the RAC card has changed to reflect the presence of the card. See "Using the System Setup Program" on page 29.
