Removing the Processor Fan

1Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 99.

2Remove the computer cover (see "Removing the Computer Cover" on page 101).

3Disconnect the fan cable from the FAN_CPU connector on the system board (see "System Board Components" on page 103).

4Remove the processor airflow shroud (see "Removing the Processor Airflow Shroud Assembly" on page 148).

5Remove the processor fan cage from the cage housing (see "Removing the Processor Fan Cage" on page 149).

6Carefully pull on the two bottom corners of the fan to detach the four rubber grommets securing the fan to the processor airflow shroud.
