5 Setting up a standard PA

5.1 Overview

In the following we would like to explain how to install a typical sound reinforcement system in passive configuration. The necessary equipment is:

1 PowerMate1000

2 HI cabinets, e.g. D 12-3

2 LO cabinets, e.g. Sub 115

2 Speaker pole-stands or 2 connection rods

2 active stage monitor speakers, e.g. AM 12

2 Speakon cables, 8 meters

2 Speakon cables, 2 meters

2 XLR LF cables

5.2 Cabling

The mains supply cord comes with the PowerMate. The quality of all other cables lies in your responsibility. Care- fully chosen high quality cables are the best precaution to prevent later problems during live operation. The follow- ing wiring alternatives are recommended to provide trou- ble free operation of your system.

SPEAKER CABLES

From our experience as a manufacturer of loudspeaker systems we know that flexible cables with a rubber jacket and a diameter of 2.5mm2 per conductor, used in combi- nation with Speakon plugs and sockets, are the best choice to guarantee the optimal connection of loudspeak- er systems. Connect the Speakon plugs according to the corresponding diagram on the PowerMate’s rear panel. We recommend using 4-wire cables where also the pins
