The Printer Software

The printer software in cludes a printer driv er and printer

utilities. The printer driver lets you choose from a wide var iet y

of settings to get the best results from your printer. The printer

utilities help you check the printer and keep it in top condition.

The quickest and easiest way to start printing is to leave the

Mode option set to Automatic in the Print dialog box. This way

you only need to check the Media Type and Ink settings, as

described on page 5-4.

Basically, there are three levels of settings: the Automatic

setting; the predefined settings, which give you more control

over printer settings; and the custom settings, which you make

to suit your individual needs. T hese settings are described in

detail below.

To check the condition of the printer or perform a maintenance

procedure, see “Using EPSON Printer Utilities” on page 5-22.

Making Changes to Printer Driver Settings

You will find the printer driver setti ngs in the following dialog

boxes:

Print dialog box (click Print on the File menu of your

application or cli ck Options in the Page Setup dialog box)

Page Setup dialog box (click Page Setup on the File menu

of your application)

Layout dialog box (click Layout in the Print dialog box)

Operation 8-8 The P power light is on but nothing prints. Nothing prints and the control panel lights are on or flashing. The printer sounds as though it is printing, but nothing prints. The printer operation check prints well, but nothing prints from within an application program. 8-10 Color documents print out in black and white. Printing starts too high or too low on the page.
