Theseare the basic steps necessar y to play an
MP3/WMA/WAVwith your built-in CD player.
Moreadvanced MP3/WMA/WAV operation is
explainedstarting on page 26.
1Playtime indicator
Showsthe elapsed playing time of the cur-
renttrack (file).
2Foldernumber indicator
Showsthe number of folder currently play-
ing.
3Tracknumber indicator
Showsthe track (file) currently playing.
4Filename indicator
Showsthe name of file currently playing.
5MP3/WMA/WAVindicator
Showsthe type of file currently playing.
1 PressSOURCE to select the built-in CD
player.
PressSOURCE until you see Compact Disc
displayed.
#Ifno disc is loaded in the unit, you cannot se-
lectCompact Disc (built-in CD player). Insert a
discin the unit. (Refer to page 13.)
2 PushMULTI-CONTROL up or down to
selecta folder.
#Youcannot select a folder that does not have
anMP3/WMA/WAV file recorded in it.
#Toreturn to folder 01 (ROOT), press and hold
BAND/ESC.However, if folder 01 (ROOT) contains
nofiles, playback commences with folder 02.
3 Toperform fast forward or reverse,
pushand hold MULTI-CONTROL left or
right.
#Thisis fast forward and reverse operation only
forthe file being played. This operation is can-
celedwhen the previous or next file is reached.
#Ifyou select ROUGH, pushing and holding
MULTI-CONTROLleft or right enables you to
searchevery 10 tracks in the current folder.(Refer
toSelecting the search method on page 27.)
4 Toskip back or forward to another
track,push MULTI-CONTROL left or right.
PushingMULTI-CONTROL right skips to the
startof the next track. Pushing
MULTI-CONTROLleft once skips to the start
ofthe current track. Pushing again will skip to
theprevious track.
Notes
!Whenplaying discs with MP3/WMA/WAV files
andaudio data (CD-DA) such as CD-EXTRA
andMIXED-MODE CDs, both types can be
playedonly by switching mode between MP3/
WMA/WAVand CD-DA with BAND/ESC.
!Ifyou have switched between playback of
MP3/WMA/WAVfiles and audio data (CD-DA),
playbackstarts at the first track on the disc.
!Thebuilt-in CD player can play back an MP3/
WMA/WAVfile recorded on CD-ROM. (Refer
topage 67 for files that can be played back.)
!Thereis sometimes a delay between starting
upCD playback and the sound being issued.
Whenbeing read in, Format read is dis-
played.
!Playbackis carried out in order of file number.
Foldersare skipped if they contain no files. (If
folder01 (ROOT) contains no files, playback
commenceswith folder 02.)
