9Reconnect the power supply cable of the processor fan to the CPU fan connector on the system board.

10Close the case, as described in Chapter 3.

11Reconnect the power cord and all other cords you removed, then turn on the system.

To add an additional processor:

1Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord and modem cord (if installed) and all other external peripheral devices.

2Open the case by following the instructions on page 17. (See “Preventing static electricity” on page 15.)

3Remove the terminator card from the second processor slot to make room for the additional processor.

4Align the new processor with the processor slot (note that the processor slot is keyed so the processor can only be installed one way) and press firmly to install it.

5Connect the power supply cable of the processor fan to the second CPU fan connector on the system board (See “System board” on page 6 for location).

6Close the case, as described in Chapter 3.

7Reconnect the power cord and all other cords you removed, then turn on the system.

Adding or replacing memory

The Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory (RDRAM) Rambus In-line Memory Modules (RIMMs) supported by your system board conform to the following standards:

32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, and 512 MB ECC or non-ECC RIMMs

Single- or double-sided configurations

2 GB maximum system memory
