6Insert the new RIMM into the socket and align the two notches in the RIMM with the two notches in the RIMM socket.

7Gently press the RIMM into the socket until it’s firmly seated. Inserting the RIMM automatically locks each of the socket clamps on each end of the RIMM.

8Close the case, as described in Chapter 3.

9Reconnect peripherals, the modem cord, and the power cord, then turn on the system.

Adding an expansion card

The E-5400 computer has five PCI expansion slots on the system board, which may be used for a variety of add-on cards. These cards may include a SCSI controller card, a modem, a high-end sound card, or an additional IDE controller card. The computer also has a single AGP slot which contains the graphics controller card for the system.

To add an expansion card:

1Set any jumpers and switches on the card, if required in the card instructions. Turn off the computer, disconnect the power cord, modem cord (if installed), and all external peripheral devices.
