Both the 3.5-inch diskette drive and 5.25-inch CD/DVD drives are secured in the chassis by sets of removable rails. The rails let the drives slide into and out of the guides in the front bays. Extra rails are included with your system and are clipped to the outsides of the drive cages, inside the case.

6Disengage the rail locking tabs by pressing inward on both front rail extensions, then move the drive slightly out of the bay by pushing on the back of the drive. Pull the drive out of the chassis.

7Remove the rails on both sides of the drive and snap them onto the new drive in the same positions. Make sure the front rail extensions are towards the front of the drive.

Important The rails on the 3.5-inch drive are different from those on the CD/DVD drive. Make sure you install the correct rails on each drive.

8Align the rails with the appropriate open bay, and slide the drive into the bay until the locking tabs snap into place.

9Connect the power and data cables, making sure the cables match their original position. (See your drive documentation for proper drive jumper settings and cable orientation.)

10Close the case, as described in Chapter 3.

11Reconnect the power and modem cords, then turn on the system.
