Running the enginewith a low oil
level can cause engine damage.
Check the engineoil level with the
enginestopped and the outboard
motor in thevertical position.
Remove the oil drain screw and
washerto drain the oil.
An engine oil evacuation device may
be used to removethe engine oil, if
you do not wish toremove the
outboardf rom the boat.
Drain theused oil while the engine is
warm. Warm oil drains quickly and
completely.
Removethe outboard f rom the
boat.
The enginecover retaining strap
fastens the engine coverto the
outboardmotor.
To removethe engine cover, unhook
the enginecover retaining strap, then
lift the engine cover off the outboard
motor.
To installthe engine cover, place the
coveron the outboard motor, then
hook the enginecover retaining strap
securely.
Check theoil level shown on the
oil levelinspection window.
If the oil level is near or below the
lower limit mark on the window,
fill with the recommended oil to
the upper limit mark on the
window.
Move thef uel valve lever to the
OFF position,and turn the vent
knob clockwiseto close the f uel
vent.
Loosen the oil drain screw, and
turn the motor on its tiller handle
side.
