Transferring Switch Configurations

TFTP: Copying a Configuration to a Remote Host.

Syntax: copy startup-config tftp <ip-addr> <remote-file>

This command copies the switch’s startup configuration (startup-config file) to a remote TFTP host.

For example, to upload the current startup configuration to a file named sw2512 in the configs directory on drive "d" in a remote host having an IP address of 13.28.227.105:

HP2512# copy startup-config tftp 13.28.227.105 d:\configs\sw2512

Xmodem: Copying a Configuration from the Switch to a Serially

Connected PC or Unix Workstation. To use this method, the switch must be connected via the serial port to a PC or Unix workstation to which you want to copy the configuration file. You will need to select a filename, and to know the drive and directory location where you want to store the configura- tion file.

Syntax: copy startup-config xmodem <pc unix>

For example, to copy a configuration file to a PC serially connected to the switch:
