Avoid using CompactFlash card accessories while on battery power. Some CompactFlash cards use considerable power and will quickly drain your battery.

Do not “listen” for infrared transfers. Although you can set your hp Jornada to constantly monitor the infrared port for files sent from other devices, doing so will quickly drain your batteries.

Use the ac adapter to plug your hp Jornada into external power whenever possible, especially when connecting to a desktop PC or when using a CompactFlash card modem, NIC, or other peripheral device. Do not let the notification button/LED flash for a long time.

Managing Memory

Your hp Jornada uses three kinds of memory: the hp safe store folder, storage and program memory (RAM), and optional CompactFlash memory cards.

The hp safe store folder

The hp safe store folder uses nonvolatile memory; that is, it will not be erased if your hp Jornada loses power. The hp safe store folder contains several preinstalled programs, as well as available storage space that you can use to store your most important files or as a location for your backup file.

The hp safe store folder appears under the My Device folder on your hp Jornada. Files stored in the hp safe store folder are not included when you back up your files using ActiveSync or the hp backup application.
