About the Left Pane

The left pane displays the buttons used to access the management server's main utilities. The left pane is accessible when you access Storage Essentials Home page (Tools > Storage Essentials

>Home):

IMPORTANT: You may not see all of the following utilities depending on the role assigned to your user account. For example, users assigned to the Help Desk role by default have access to Application Viewer and Event Manager, but not to System Manager, Provisioning Manager, Policy Manager, and Reporting.

Application Viewer - Application Viewer lets you monitor and display information obtained from discovered databases.

System Manager - System Manager lets you accesses systems, and view assets by fabric and logical path. See About System Manager” on page 217.

Capacity Manager - Capacity Manager provides a graphical representation of an element's storage capacity in the storage network. See About Capacity Manager” on page 515.

- Performance Manager provides a graphical representation of the results obtained from monitoring your elements. See Creating Performance Charts” on page 492.

Event Manager - Event Manager lets you view, clear, sort and filter API-generated events. See About Event Manager” on page 409.

Provisioning Manager - Provisioning Manager assists you in creating zones, zone sets, and zone aliases, in addition to storage pools, volumes, and host security groups. See About Provisioning Manager” on page 297.

Policy Manager - Policy Manager lets you set up rules so that an automated response occurs when a particular event happens or a value triggers the system. See About Policy Manager” on page 531.

Business Tools - The management server provides advisors and automators. Advisors provides detailed information for you to make informed decisions about your network, such as non-compliant HBA firmware. Automators let you automate particular tasks.
