For example, with a 16-pipe hp visualization center sv6, each of the quadrants pictured above could be accumulated by N graphics-enabled workstations (N is equal to the number of samples to be jittered). If N=4, then you get four samples for accumulation on each section and since the screen has been split into four sections, you also get improved acceleration.

To increase the rendering performance, use the Accelerate Mode. To increase image quality, use Accumulate Mode. To improve both, experiment with Mixed Mode to achieve the desired balance of both.

Figure 2-9 shows the hardware arrangement needed to produce the output in Figure 2-8.
