Advanced Configuration Options Screen

The Advanced Configuration Options screen displays the current settings for the selected adapter and allows you to change these settings.

Plug and Play Scam Support

When this option is set to Enabled, it allows the adapter to automatically assign a SCSI ID to an attached SCSI device that supports SCAM-1 (SCSI Configured AutoMatically) protocol. Most non-SCAM devices tolerate SCAM protocol, so you can usually enable this option even if you have some non-SCAM devices. In rare cases, an old SCSI-1 device may not tolerate SCAM and may cause your computer to hang or operate errati- cally. If this happens, set the option back to Disabled.

The default for this option is Disabled. When you attempt to change it to Enabled, the following informational message displays:

WARNING: ‘Reset SCSI Bus at IC Initialization’ cannot be DISABLED if ‘Plug and Play Scam Support’ is ENABLED.
