2.Make sure all associated components are configured with the correct settings.

TRIGGER OPERATION

The trigger input connector is not working.

Make sure the OTHERS SETUP menu parameter Economy mode is set to off. Economy mode controls the RT-20 standby mode power level. When set to on, the RT-20 operates at low power standby, and disables the trigger input connector (and the RS-232C connec-

tor). When set to off, the RT-20 enters normal power standby. See “Economy Mode” on page 3-29.

RS232C CONNECTOR OPERATION

The RS-232C connector is not working.

Make sure the OTHERS SETUP menu parameter Economy mode is set to off. Economy mode controls the RT-20 standby mode power level. When set to on, the RT-20 operates at low power standby, and disables the RS-232C connector (and the trigger input connec- tor). When set to off, the RT-20 enters normal power standby. Set to

off to enable the RS232C connector. See “Economy Mode” on page 3-29.

PLAYBACK OPERATION

The disc drawer automatically opens when a disc is loaded.

1.Make sure a compatible disc is loaded. The RT-20 is compatible with 5-inch (12cm) and 3-inch (8cm) conventional, round discs. Do not attempt to load discs with other size and shape characteristics. All discs must align with the circular guide inside the disc drawer.

2.Make sure a compatible disc format is loaded.

3.If a DVD-V is loaded, make sure the RT-20 region code is com- patible with the DVD-V region code. The map shown on page 1-4 indicates DVD-V region codes for all areas of the world. All DVD-Vs are marked with a region code, which is often located on the disc packaging. The RT-20 rear panel is also marked with a region code. The RT-20 is compatible with discs marked with this same region code or with the ALL region code. The RT-20 is not compatible with discs marked with other region codes.

4.Clean the loaded disc.

5.Condensation might have formed on the RT-20 lens. If this occurs, allow at least 1 hour for condensation to evaporate before attempting to load a disc.

Playback will not activate.

1.Make sure a compatible disc format is loaded.

2.Make sure the disc is properly loaded. Load single-sided discs with the label side facing upward and double-sided discs with the side intended for playback facing downward. All discs must align with the circular guide inside the disc drawer.
