Setup

Calibration ensures that output levels correspond to THX refer- ence levels (75dB) for input sources such as DVDs.

Eliminate extraneous noises in the listening space such as con- versations, air conditioners, and sounds that filter in through open doors and windows.

Remove objects (including people) that obstruct the line-of- sight path between the SPL meter and the speaker being mea- sured.

Output levels should be calibrated to be consistent from the primary listening position. Place the SPL meter at the approxi- mate spot where the listener’s head will be during listening.

All output levels should be adjusted to achieve a 75dB SPL meter reading from the primary listening position.

Activate the Test Tone for the associated analog audio output connector.

Set the Screen Saver to Off. Test Tones automatically mute when the Lexicon screen saver appears on the on-screen dis- play.

To set variable output levels:

When the Level Setting screen opens, the Test Tone icon is high- lighted.

Note:

Before the Test Tone parameters can be adjusted, the Audio Out parameter must be set to 5.1 channel.

1. Press the remote control

or

buttons to cycle through the

Auto, Manual, and Off settings.

 

2.Select Auto and press the remote control ENTER button to set all Test Tone parameters to Auto. Test Tones will pass through

each channel when the associated Gain Setting screen parame- ter is highlighted.

3.Select Manual to activate a Test Tone for the associated chan- nel. A Test Tone will pass through the associated channel when the corresponding Gain Setting screen parameter is high- lighted.

4.Select Off to deactivate a Test Tone for all channels. No Test Tone will pass through the associated channel.

5.Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all desired Test Tones have been acti- vated or deactivated.

6. Press the and buttons to highlight the desired parameter. If the corresponding test tone parameter has been set to Auto, a Test Tone will pass through the associated channel.

Test Tones automatically mute when the Lexicon screen saver appears on the on-screen display. To avoid this, set the Screen Saver parameter to Off while variable output levels are cali- brated. Test Tones also mute when playback mode is activated.

7. When the desired parameter is highlighted, press the

and

buttons to cycle through available settings.

 

8.When finished, press the remote control RETURN button to return to the Setup menu.
