SUBTITLE LANGUAGES

Opens a Subtitle bar as shown to the right, which can be used to select the desired subtitle language.

Subtitle language selection is available for DVD-Vs recorded with subtitles. Subtitle language selection is not available for other disc formats or for discs that are not recorded with subtitles. In addition, subtitle language selection is not available unless playback is acti- vated.

Subtitle language selection has no effect on the Subtitle Language parameter setting.

To set Subtitle preference, see “Subtitle Language” on page 3-5.

To select a subtitle language when a disc is playing:

1.Press the SUBTITLE button to open the Subtitle bar.

The Subtitle bar indicates the language in which the selected subtitles were recorded. For instance, the Subtitle bar shown to the right indicates that the selected subtitle was recorded in English. It also indicates that the selected language is one of two that are available.

If the Subtitle bar does not open at the top of the on-screen display, subtitle language selection might not be available for the loaded disc.

2.To select the desired subtitle language, use the cursor arrow buttons to scroll through the available languages. The current subtitle language is displayed on-screen.

Select Subtitle Off to prevent subtitles from appearing on the on-screen display during playback.

Note:

The Subtitle bar automatically closes immediately after the last command is received. When this occurs, playback will activate using the selected subtitle language. If no command is selected, the bar closes after approxi- mately ten seconds.

3.When the desired subtitle language is selected, press the remote control ENTER button to activate playback using the selected subtitle language.

CAMERA ANGLES

Opens the Angle bar, which can be used to select the desired cam- era angle.

Camera angle selection is available for DVD-V scenes recorded from multiple camera angles. Camera angle selection is not available for other disc formats or for DVD-V scenes recorded from one camera angle. In addition, camera angle selection is not available unless playback is activated.

The Angle Indicator parameter activates and deactivates the indica- tor. See “Angle Mark” on page 3-26. When set to On, the indicator appears on the front panel display when playback of a scene
